Prepared by the Mesopotamia Observatory of Justice (Mojust), this report offers a comprehensive account of the systematic destruction of Kurdish cemeteries and gravestones by Turkish security forces between 2015 and 2020 in Southeast Turkey. The report documents these acts as violations not only of property rights and collective memory, but also of national and international legal obligations to protect the dignity of the deceased and uphold human rights. Focusing on the continuity of state policies targeting the Kurdish population from the early Republican era to the present, as well as the entrenched impunity for such acts, the report provides detailed case studies and legal analyses. It calls on national and international actors to hold the Turkish authorities accountable and to ensure justice for the affected families
This joint report by Mojust and HEVİ LGBTİ+ examines the human rights violations faced by trans prisoners in Turkey’s penal institutions due to their gender identity. Drawing on national and international legal frameworks, the report highlights the widespread use of solitary confinement, barriers to accessing healthcare, and structural obstacles to the legal recognition of gender identity. It analyses discriminatory practices within the prison system, the shortcomings of current legislation, and the difficulties trans prisoners face in accessing justice. The study concludes with concrete policy recommendations, urging Turkish authorities to end gender identity-based discrimination and to guarantee conditions of detention that respect the dignity and fundamental rights of all trans prisoners, in line with international human rights obligations
